Father’s Day is just around the corner, and we wanted to share a few ideas of where to take Dad on the big day.
1. Go Golfing
If golfing is your Dad’s thing–you’re in luck in Bruce County. With 16 courses to choose from for beginners to seasoned golfers, you could choose your favourite, or cycle through until you’re all golfed out.
Check out the golf map here to plan your golf tour.
2. Try Some Local Craft Beer
3. Take A Bike Tour Around Lion’s Head
Explorer’s Tread offers bicycle tours around the Lion’s Head area, for half day, full day, and fully customized tours.
4. Go Down The Saugeen River
You and Dad can rent your own canoe at Cowan Canoes, and paddle down the Saugeen River for a few hours or a full day. Bring snacks, swimwear, and sunscreen for a day on the Saugeen.
An easy day trip is going from one launch point to the other, and there are slow sections of the river on either side of Paisley. Or, if you’re feeling adventurous, start farther up the river and make it a multi-day trip, finishing in Southampton. There are 102 km from Hanover to Southampton.
Additionally, if you rent a kayak and launch from a spot below Denny’s Dam, you can pretty much lean back and let the river do the work for you, and glide on out to the Lake.
5. Go Fishing at Denny’s Dam
This seems to be one of the most popular spots for fishing in the Saugeen Shores area, so it must be a good one. Locals and tourists alike flock here for a healthy fish population, and low, easily navigable waters.
6. Race ATV’s At The Paisley Rat Track
Or, dirt bikes.
7. Play 18 Hole Championship Frisbee Golf Course
That’s right. Frisbee Golf. At Dreamaker Family Campground.
8. Do A Guys’ Dinner Night
We recommend taking dad for a night out at The Queen’s Bar & Grill. Why not order some wings, grab a couple beers, and enjoy your time together! Or, go for the steak–you won’t be disappointed.
9. Fly With A Water Jet Pack
Makin’ Waves in Sauble Beach has one of those awesome water jet packs, a.k.a. a JetLev Water Flyer.
Take turns flying above Lake Huron, and get some photos to make all the other Dads jealous.
10. Watch A Race At The Sauble Speedway
Get your race on, with Dad.
